Karen J. Lapekas, Esq. is board-certified in tax law by the Florida Bar. She grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and received her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (Litigation), before earning a Master’s in Tax Law from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She teaches Federal Tax Practice & Procedure at the University of Miami School of Law as an Adjunct Professor. Before starting Lapekas Law, she was a Senior Attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel where she was the lead attorney for the IRS on over 170 cases in the United States Tax Court. Karen founded Lapekas Law to ensure that her clients do not give the IRS one dollar more than they owe or one dollar more than they can afford to pay.
